Local NHS recognised for green credentials

NHS Nottingham City Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has been presented with the top award in a national environmental accreditation scheme.

Investors in the Environment (iiE) helps organisations improve their energy efficiency and reduce their impact on the environment. Its ‘Great Green Star Award’ is presented to a small number of organisations that have demonstrated excellent progress in minimising their impact on the environment.

Initiatives such as innovative carbon reporting strategies and a clear vision of staff engagement on the adoption of environmental policies helped the CCG to qualify for the Green Award.

The organisation also met other essential criteria, such as having a recycling system in place and reducing the amount of paper used internally. It is now classed as a green leader by Investors in the Environment and will help to set the standard for the environment amongst other organisations.

Lucy Branson, Associate Director of Corporate Development, said: “We are delighted to have received the Great Green Star Award and to be recognised for the work and investment we have made so far in reducing the overall impact of our business activities on the environment.

“Our commitment to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint is ongoing and we will continue looking for ways in which we can further improve our performance in this area.”
