St Ann’s surgery to close following GP’s retirement from general practice

Patients of the NDU Surgery based at St Ann’s Valley Centre are being supported to register with a new GP practice. Their current surgery is to close on Wednesday 1 July due to the retirement from General Practice of Dr Chris Udenze.

NHS England and NHS Nottingham City Clinical Commissioning Group have written to patients to let them know that services provided by the NDU Surgery will be phased out from 19 June, with the surgery closing on 1 July 2015, and ask them to register with an alternative practice close by.

Jonathan Rycroft, Head of Primary Care for NHS England in Nottinghamshire, said: “We have written to all Dr Udenze’s patients to give notice of the closure and to ask them to register with a new doctor. The letter also includes contact details of eleven GP practices in the area which are accepting new patients. We have confirmed that there is sufficient capacity in the area and these practices are aware that new patients will be approaching them to register.”

Maria Principe, Director of Primary Care Development and Service Integration at Nottingham City CCG, said: “Routine appointments at NDU Surgery can only be made up to Friday 19 June, so it is really important that patients register with a new doctor as soon as possible – particularly those patients who have long-term health conditions or require regular medication. Our priority is making sure that patients have access to alternative GP services and we are confident that people will be able to find another doctor close by. Our Patient Experience Team is able to support patients in finding and registering with a new doctor.

“Dr Udenze has served patients in the St Ann’s area for around 20 years and will be greatly missed by those who have received his care. We would all like to thank Dr Udenze for his commitment to general practice in Nottingham and wish him all the very best for the future.”
