Top tips for 'back to school'

It’s that time of year when parents across Nottingham are packing school bags, ironing uniforms and making sure their children are ready for #BackToSchool2018.

Here are three top tips for a successful start to the new school year.

Healthy lunches

If you’re packing a school lunch for your child each day, it can be easy to feel uninspired. The Change4Life website has lunchbox ideas to help you keep your child’s meal interesting and healthy. You can ‘build your own’ lunchbox or choose from their wide selection of recipes.

Active travel

Children and young people aged 5 to 18 need to do at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. If you are able to walk briskly or cycle to school, you can build in some of the activity they need. Get top tips on how to cycle safely from the Change4Life website.

First day nerves

If your child is feeling anxious about starting at school, there are things you can do to prepare them. The NHS website has advice to help you settle them into their new school.
