Consultation launched on proposal to merge the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCGs

The six CCGs in Nottinghamshire – Mansfield and Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood, Nottingham City, Nottingham North and East, Nottingham West and Rushcliffe – are proposing to merge to create one Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG.

To ensure that all stakeholders can feedback on these proposals, we have launched a consultation so you can share your views about these plans.

The CCGs have already started working together and aligning teams and committees and now share a senior leadership team, headed up by a single Accountable Officer, Amanda Sullivan.

We are proposing this merger as we believe it is the best way to enable people across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire to access the best health and care services possible. It would also reduce organisational running costs, which would be better spent on supporting local healthcare services.

Six Governing Bodies oversee the work of each CCG and include representation from GPs, nurses, secondary care doctors and members of the public. After much discussion, each Governing Body has indicated a preference to merge fully because they believe that the benefits of doing so would be much greater than staying as we are today.

However, we want to assure you that no decisions have been taken and all six CCGs are keen to listen to the views of member practice GPs, partners, patient representatives and other key stakeholders.

Today, Tuesday 21 May 2019, we have launched a consultation to get your views on this proposal. The consultation will close at 9am Monday 17 June.

A decision about future commissioning arrangements will be taken once the consultation has ended and all feedback considered. If we were to merge, this would happen on 1 April 2020.

We want to reassure you that whatever a future commissioning organisation might look like, our decision-making will continue to be clinically-led and will involve clinicians, local people and healthcare partners.
