Dr Stevens of Mapperley Park Medical Centre retires

Following the retirement of Dr Stevens after 27 years of service to the NHS Mapperley Park Medical Centre will permanently close on 21 June 2019.

All registered patients at the practice will receive a letter from NHS Nottingham City Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and NHS England informing them of Dr Stevens retirement, the closure and how they can register at a nearby GP Practice. The letters were posted on 3 June 2019 and will arrive over the coming days.

All patients with appointments booked at the practice are being contacted by telephone to help them re-register quickly elsewhere.

To find your local GP practices, visit the NHS Choices website – If you are unable to access information online, or have any queries or concerns, please contact our Patient Experience Team on 0115 8839570 during office hours or email

We would also like to remind patients that urgent health problems can be treated at the Urgent Care Centre, Seaton House, London Road, Nottingham, NG2 4LA. It is open every day of the year including weekends and bank holidays between 7am and 9pm and you don't need an appointment, just walk in. Alternatively, patients can call NHS 111 for advice.

Dr Hugh Porter, GP and Clinical Lead at NHS Nottingham City CCG said: “On behalf of NHS Nottingham City CCG I would like to thank Dr Stevens for his hard work and dedication to his patients over the last 27 years. We sincerely hope that Dr Stevens has a happy retirement and I wish him the best that life has to offer.

A spokesperson for the CCG added: “Patients registered at Mapperley Park Medical Practice will need to register with a new GP practice as soon as possible. This is particularly important for people with long-term health conditions and those who need repeat prescriptions.”
