Patients registered at Strelley Surgery urged to register with new practice following immediate closure today

The Strelley Surgery has unexpectedly closed following concerns regarding service quality and patient safety by the Care Quality Commission.

All registered patients at the practice will receive a letter from NHS Nottingham City Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and NHS England informing them of the closure and how they can register at a nearby GP Practice.

All patients with appointments booked at the practice today are being contacted by telephone to help them re-register quickly elsewhere.

The closure follows action taken by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to protect the welfare and safety of patients.

Dr Hugh Porter, Clinical Chair of Nottingham City Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said: “We are urging patients registered at the Strelley Surgery to register with a new practice following the immediate closure of the practice.

“We fully support the principle that all healthcare providers should be held to account for the quality of care they give to local people, while supporting GPs to meet contractual and legislative requirements.

“As commissioners our priority is to ensure patients are able to access primary care services without delay.”

Message for patients:
Please register with another practice as soon as possible

This is particularly important if you have long-term health conditions and/or if you need repeat prescriptions.

You can register with one of the three other practices in the Beechdale Medical Group who are accepting new patients. Alternatively please visit the NHS website – – and put in your postcode and this will list your nearest GP Practices.

To register, contact your chosen GP Practice and they will go through the registration process with you. You will need to fill out a new patient form and a short medical questionnaire at the practice. Also provide one form of photo identification (passport / driving licence) plus proof of address (such as council tax or utility bill from last 3 months). If you have any questions about how to register, then please phone the reception at your chosen GP Practice.
